Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at the Government of Prince Edward Island. As a member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the delivery of exceptional healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer client treatments within the scope of practice, ensuring adherence to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with registered nurses and nurse practitioners to prioritize and organize day-to-day client care activities, promoting efficient and effective care delivery.
  • Document client reactions, responses to treatment, and emotional support, maintaining accurate and comprehensive records.
  • Report and document unusual physical and/or emotional occurrences of clients, ensuring prompt attention and intervention as needed.
  • Adhere to infection control standards and policies, maintaining a safe and healthy environment for clients and staff.
  • Promote and apply professional nursing standards and codes of conduct, upholding the highest standards of patient care and respect.
  • Stay knowledgeable of and adhere to policies and procedures governing correctional client care and health and safety issues.
  • Monitor and address client satisfaction with care, health, and safety issues, striving to meet best practice standards.
  • Participate in reviewing, revising, delegating, and formulating the plan of care following ongoing client assessment with multidisciplinary team members.
  • Provide direct care for complex situations under the direction of a registered nurse as appropriate.
  • Adhere to advances in evidence-based practices, incorporating them into nursing care delivery.
  • Follow direction from a registered nurse to ensure client assignments are appropriate and that nursing care is effective and reflects changing client needs and conditions.
  • Participate in client care planning through multidisciplinary and client/family collaboration.
  • Assist registered nurses in monitoring client progress against the plan of care.
  • Assess patients physically and mentally using evidence-based practice tools.
  • Participate in case conferences with appropriate members of the multidisciplinary team and the client/family as required.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A diploma or certificate in Practical Nursing from a recognized educational institution.
  • Current registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Prince Edward Island.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • A strong commitment to providing high-quality patient care and contributing to a positive and supportive work environment.
