Materials Technician

We are seeking a skilled Materials Technician to join our Construction Services team in North West BC and surrounding areas.
About the RoleAs a Materials Technician, you will assist the Field Lead in conducting field and laboratory testing of aggregate, soils, and concrete. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Assisting the Field Lead in conducting field and laboratory testing of aggregate, soils, and concrete.
- Performing a variety of lab materials testing and field testing.
- Assisting with mentoring new and junior employees.
- Assisting with maintaining laboratory certifications.
- Communicating test results and providing technical advice to internal staff and external clients.
- Working with cross-discipline teams to ensure projects are completed within allotted schedules, budgets, and to high-quality standards.
- Ensuring safety guidelines are adhered to within the lab and in the field.
- Coordinating field equipment and performing and recording routine instrument maintenance and calibration of select equipment.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Completion of a Civil Engineering Technology diploma (asset, but not required).
- 1+ years of progressive experience in lab and field materials testing.
- CCIL and/or CSA certification (preferred).
- Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written).
- Proven ability to interact and collaborate with team members in a multi-disciplined environment.
- Technical competence and strong attention to detail.
