We are excited to present opportunities to join our Paraprofessional team, which includes positions for Law Clerks, Paralegals, Land Use Planners, and Trademark Agents across all our Practice Groups. These roles are available in any of our national offices:
- Administrative Law: Environmental Law, Health, Immigration, and Labour & Employment
- Business Law: Capital Markets & Securities, Corporate, Financial Services, Insolvency, Intellectual Property, and Mergers & Acquisitions
- Litigation: Commercial, Construction, Estates & Trusts, Family Law, and Insurance Defence
- Real Estate: Condominium Development and Governance, Commercial and Residential Transactions, Land Development, Municipal Law, and Leasing
- Tax: Charities & Not-for-Profit, Corporate Tax, Litigation, and Private Client Services
Paraprofessionals work closely with lawyers and other professionals specializing in these areas, playing an essential role within the team. We are looking for individuals who are resourceful, responsive, and demonstrate a professional demeanor with outstanding client service skills. Candidates should excel in managing tasks and priorities effectively to meet deadlines and ensure continuous progress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute various legal and technical tasks within the relevant practice area(s)
- Draft complex documents and correspondence related to transactions
- Conduct, document, review, analyze, verify, monitor, summarize, and report on due diligence
- Ensure timely submission of applications, submissions, and related matters in the respective practice area(s)
- Provide prompt responses to inquiries or requests for additional information
- Engage in client interviews, communicate via phone and email with clients and third parties to gather or distribute information, provide updates, and execute documents
- Research and interpret legal and technical procedures, statutes, and regulations pertinent to the relevant practice area(s) and related fields
- Fulfill other business-related responsibilities as assigned
What You'll Bring:
- Community College Certificate/Diploma or Degree in a Law Clerk/Paralegal or Urban Planning program, and/or equivalent experience in a legal environment in a Law Clerk/Paralegal, Land Use Planner, or Trademark Agent role
- Certification/designation as a Law Clerk/Paralegal, Urban Planner, or Trademark Agent, depending on the province
- Strong understanding of current legal terminology and thorough knowledge of federal and provincial statutes and procedures relevant to the practice area(s)
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Outstanding oral and written communication abilities, demonstrating proficiency in all forms of professional communication
- Exceptional multitasking capabilities
- Proven ability to manage a high volume of work, handle competing priorities, and meet demands efficiently
- Proficient in problem-solving with minimal supervision
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and Aderant
- Ability to work independently, show initiative, and follow instructions with minimal supervision
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
