Recreation / Activity Aide

We are seeking a skilled Recreation / Activity Aide to join our team at Pro Vita Care Management Inc. in Richmond. As a Recreation / Activity Aide, you will play a vital role in supporting our residents in Long Term Care by creating and implementing therapeutic recreation programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and lead arts and crafts, exercise, music, woodworking, cooking, baking, gardening, outings, and other social programs for residents.
  • Teach, direct, and demonstrate activities to residents and volunteers.
  • Transfer, porter, and ambulate residents to and from activities, implementing ambulation programs as designed by Occupational or Physiotherapy or rehab workers.
  • Assist residents at meals, including feeding.
  • Support admissions, discharges, and transfers of residents as required.
  • Contribute to planning and evaluating recreation programs by reporting observations and resident feedback to the Recreation Coordinator/Manager.
  • Record and track activity attendance and statistics.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from a recognized institution with a Recreational/Activity Certification or combination of experience/training.
  • Holds and maintains a Valid Class 4 BC driver's license, as applicable to care home needs.
  • Maintains Valid Occupational First Aide Level 1 Certificate including CPR "A".
  • Maintains Food Safe Level 1.
  • Satisfactory proof of COVID-19 vaccinations.
  • Passes and complies with Ministry of Justice Criminal record Check upon hire and every 5 years thereafter.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbal and written.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with seniors is preferred.
