Opportunity Overview
The Calgary office is in search of a Mechanical Design Engineer. As a qualified engineer or technologist, you possess a strong enthusiasm for mechanical systems design. You are adept at performing load calculations and proficient in creating detailed drawings using Autodesk Revit. You thrive on tackling new challenges while maintaining efficiency in your work. Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and prepare drawings and calculations essential for project delivery.
  • Design mechanical systems in compliance with municipal and provincial building codes.
  • Review layouts and services for continuity, coordinating with structural, architectural, and electrical components.
  • Create designs for mechanical systems, including HVAC, fire protection, plumbing, and specialized systems.
  • Generate project-specific details and building sections to facilitate coordination among systems.
  • Conduct calculations for sizing ductwork, piping, and plumbing, integrating these into technical drawings.
  • Prepare equipment schedules and liaise with project consultants for equipment reviews.
  • Collaborate with project consultants to ensure design requirements are met across disciplines.
  • Utilize Revit for direct design of mechanical systems, adhering to BIM standards.
  • Assist in construction administration through review of shop drawings and site visits.
  • Undertake additional tasks as assigned by project managers or principals.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience in mechanical building services.
  • Diploma or degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Proficient in Autodesk Revit and familiar with mechanical layouts.
  • Knowledgeable in AutoCAD MEP and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of various mechanical systems and their applications.
  • Ability to navigate structural, architectural, and electrical models.
  • Familiarity with municipal and provincial regulations.
  • Capable of thriving in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong innovation and motivation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
