Your Opportunity

As a key member of JRS Engineering, you will provide essential support in asset and reserve planning, delivering expert advice and consultation to property stakeholders, including strata councils, co-op boards, and commercial property owners. Your role will encompass reserve analysis, condition evaluations, site inspections, and comprehensive report generation.

Key Responsibilities at JRS

Technical Duties

  • Achieve proficiency in various assessment reports, such as Depreciation Reports, Reserve Fund Studies, Building Condition Assessments, and Capital Reserve Plans, along with Warranty Reviews and Maintenance Plans.
  • Utilize knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Strata Property Act and BC Building Code, as well as industry standards and best practices.
  • Engage with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) to secure necessary property documentation.
  • Examine technical and financial documents related to property assets, including drawings and strata plans.
  • Conduct on-site visual inspections of diverse property types to evaluate the condition of physical assets, including structural and architectural elements.
  • Research and analyze market trends, economic factors, and property regulations.
  • Interact with property owners and representatives to gather insights and information.
  • Generate cost estimates for asset replacements based on project specifications and site measurements.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to clients through virtual meetings or in-person discussions.
  • Coordinate with other technical consultants as required.
  • Maintain and update costing databases and project archives.
  • Compile and summarize data for future reports and publications.
  • Support various services to assist with JRS's diverse workload, including testing and document reviews.

Business Development Duties

  • Contribute to proposals, RFPs, and multiple property requests.
  • Assist in creating marketing materials and support business development initiatives.
  • Participate in research and data analysis for presentations and publications.

General Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior team members to enhance knowledge and experience.
  • Communicate effectively with JRS staff, clients, and contractors regarding project responsibilities.
  • Provide professional opinions on deliverables, including associated risks and limitations.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of project scopes and ensure compliance with JRS standards.

Your Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • A degree or diploma in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Certification in reserve planning or analysis is an asset.
  • 0 to 2 years of relevant industry experience.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Familiarity with building components and financial documentation.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with experience in report writing.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Strong relationship-building and networking skills.

Other Requirements

  • A valid British Columbia Driver's Licence is required.
