Financial Analyst, Shared Services

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Analyst to join our Shared Services team at the University of Saskatchewan. As a key member of our finance team, you will play a critical role in supporting the financial objectives and operational requirements of our assigned portfolio(s).
Key Responsibilities- Financial Analysis and Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including budgeting, financial planning, and forecasting processes.
- Financial Transaction Processing: Ensure timely and accurate processing of financial transactions, including invoices, payments, and accruals.
- Fund Reconciliation and Journal Entries: Coordinate and complete fund reconciliations on a monthly basis, including coordination and completion of required journal entry transfers.
- Fee for Service Activities: Coordinate and complete fee for service activities, including invoicing, costing, reconciling, and reporting.
- Process Improvement: Seek opportunities to continuously improve financial procedures and processes within the portfolio.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Establish and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders, including Finance and Resources leaders and staff, FCO colleagues, and Service Centre partners.
- Internal Controls and Compliance: Ensure effective internal controls are in place for financial transactions, and that financial activity complies with legislation, GAAP, agreements with external parties, and USask policy and procedures.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A relevant certificate or degree, preferably in Business, Accounting, or a related field.
- A minimum of five (5) years of related experience in general accounting, preferably in an institutional setting.
- Excellent analytical skills, problem-solving skills, and communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite.
- Knowledge of USask financial, HR, and work management systems (e.g. UniFi/FAST, About-US, UnivRS) would be considered a strong asset.
