Job Summary:
The Health and Safety Specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining occupational safety programs across the organization. This role will serve as the subject matter expert on occupational safety topics and will work closely with senior management, Human Resources, and warehouse operations management to ensure a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and conduct safety training programs for employees on industry-specific topics.
- Provide training on occupational safety best practices to warehouse associates and floor management.
- Conduct job site safety compliance inspections, including hazard analysis and risk assessments.
- Coordinate inspections, investigations, and occupational safety activities with departments.
- Monitor adherence to the company safety program and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Requirements:
- Thorough knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and workers' compensation legislation.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively alone.
- Strong English communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks.
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety principles and practices.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Safety certification training (e.g., CRSP, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information, and MSDA) is considered a strong asset.
- Three to five years' experience in occupational health and safety.
