Position Overview

The role of a Visual Inspection Technician at Technical Bureaus (TBS) Inspection Services Inc. involves ensuring the highest standards of quality through meticulous inspection processes.

Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of a college, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program lasting between 3 months to less than 1 year.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years and up to 3 years in a relevant field.
Work Environment
  • Location: The role requires working outdoors at various sites.
  • Conditions: Fast-paced environment requiring attention to detail and excellent hand-eye coordination.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough tests to verify quality and identify defects.
  • Establish and maintain nondestructive inspection techniques and calibration standards.
  • Calibrate, test, and interpret results from ultrasonic equipment.
  • Set up and operate various inspection equipment including magnetic particle, eddy current, liquid penetrant, acoustic emission, and infrared thermographic tools.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations during inspections.
  • Instruct and oversee the training of new personnel.
  • Maintain detailed reports of test results.
Supervision

Responsible for supervising a team of 3-4 individuals.

Certifications
  • National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) accreditation.
  • CWB Welding Inspector Certification Level 2.
  • Nondestructive Testing Certificate.
Equipment and Methods
  • Familiarity with liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, visual inspection, nondestructive testing, and ultrasonic methods.
Areas of Experience
  • Experience in construction, large pressure vessels, oil or gas pipelines, and petrochemical industries.
Travel Requirements
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be willing to travel as necessary.
Personal Attributes
  • Demonstrates accuracy, flexibility, reliability, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Work Schedule

This position typically requires working between 30 to 40 hours per week.
