Become a vital part of Petits Frères, an organization renowned for its commitment to enhancing the lives of isolated seniors. As a Community Engagement Specialist, you will collaborate with a passionate team dedicated to making a difference in the community.
In this role, you will work under the guidance of the regional coordinator to develop and implement summer programs aimed at alleviating loneliness among elderly individuals. Your responsibilities will include visiting seniors who are unable to participate in community activities, ensuring they receive the support and companionship they need.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and execution of diverse activities and entertainment for seniors, working closely with team members
- Provide logistical assistance for organizing events and outings
- Facilitate specific activities for the elderly
- Conduct visits to seniors in their homes, residences, long-term care facilities, and hospitals
- Report any significant changes in the well-being or circumstances of seniors to the coordinator
- Perform follow-up communications with seniors and volunteers
- Help organize occasional outings for elderly individuals
- Maintain accurate records and notes in files
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing post-secondary education (preferably completed 2 years) in fields such as special education, social work, recreational therapy, psychoeducation, psychology, or related human sciences
- Genuine enthusiasm for supporting the elderly
- Familiarity with non-profit organizations
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Strong diplomatic and listening abilities
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to work independently
- Creative and innovative approach to problem-solving
Employment Conditions
- 1 temporary position for 8 weeks
- 35-hour workweek
- $19 hourly wage
- Flexible schedule with a hybrid work model (in-person and remote)
