As the Project Controls Manager, you will be instrumental in ensuring the effective execution of civil engineering projects by adeptly managing and implementing project control methodologies and systems. Your responsibilities will encompass planning, scheduling, financial oversight, risk assessment, and performance evaluation to guarantee that projects are completed on schedule and within financial limits.

This position calls for an experienced professional with a background in mining, heavy civil construction, and experience in remote operational environments. Your proficiency in financial management, change order processes, and invoicing will be vital in overseeing projects valued at up to $100 million.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Oversight: Manage financial oversight, change order processes, and invoicing for extensive mining projects.
  2. Collaboration: Engage closely with Indigenous communities and diverse teams, nurturing strong partnerships to ensure project success.
  3. Team Leadership: Coordinate and lead teams of varying sizes, ensuring effective communication and alignment with project goals.
  4. Proactive Problem Solving: Take initiative in addressing challenges while effectively adhering to guidance from project leadership.
  5. Contractor Engagement: Leverage your extensive experience collaborating with major construction firms.

Qualifications:

  1. Demonstrated experience in mining and heavy civil construction, particularly in remote and fly-in fly-out environments.
  2. Proven ability to collaborate with Indigenous communities.
  3. Extensive experience working with contractors across various projects, detailing your roles and contributions.
  4. Strong project control competencies, especially in financial management, change order processes, and invoicing.
  5. Exceptional problem-solving abilities and the capacity to take initiative while also following directives.
  6. Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  7. Proven experience in a similar capacity.
  8. Familiarity with document management systems is advantageous.
  9. Knowledge of ERP software, 4castplus, and P6 scheduling is a definite asset.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop comprehensive project plans, including work breakdown structures (WBS), critical path analysis, and resource allocation.
  2. Collaborate with project teams to create realistic and achievable project timelines.
  3. Establish and manage project budgets, monitoring expenditures and ensuring compliance with financial constraints.
  4. Analyze cost trends, providing insights and recommendations for financial optimization while maintaining project schedules through project management software.
  5. Conduct regular schedule assessments, identifying potential delays and proposing mitigation strategies.
  6. Identify project risks and formulate risk mitigation strategies.
  7. Regularly update risk registers, communicating potential impacts to the project team.
  8. Implement performance metrics to monitor project progress against established benchmarks.
  9. Generate and disseminate regular reports on project status, highlighting key performance indicators.
  10. Evaluate the impact of changes on project scope, schedule, and budget.
  11. Collaborate with project teams to develop change orders and maintain accurate documentation.
  12. Facilitate effective communication among project stakeholders, ensuring alignment on project objectives.
  13. Provide clear and concise updates to management and project teams.
  14. Work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to integrate project control processes into overall project management activities.
  15. Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including schedules, budgets, and reports.
  16. Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  17. Perform other duties as required.
