Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor - Distribution Design to join our team at FortisBC. As a key member of our Distribution Design group, you will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to a team of skilled field resources, ensuring the efficient and safe delivery of energy to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional leadership and supervision to the Distribution Design team, ensuring continuity and efficiency in our operations.
  • Take the lead on selecting, orientating, and training new employees, ensuring they have the necessary coaching to support performance and quality of work.
  • Maintain fiscal responsibility by managing costs associated with staff, facilities, vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Facilitate a safe and inclusive environment for staff, adhering to safe work procedures and practices, including Site Safe Work Planning.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a related discipline from an accredited university or a diploma of engineering technology from a recognized program, plus a minimum of five years of recent and related experience within a leadership capacity.
  • Certified member in the applied science technologists and technicians of B.C. or a professional equivalent.
  • An equivalent combination of education, related training, and experience may be considered.
  • A passion for developing quality solutions with a safety-focused mindset and established knowledge of applicable regulations and standards impacting compliance of electric utility operations.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills that enable you to effectively engage staff, attend to emergencies, prioritize competing tasks, and skillfully resolve conflict.
