Operations Trainee Job Description

Craftsman Collision is a leading auto body repair chain in Canada, committed to excellence and customer satisfaction. We're seeking a skilled Operations Trainee to support our team in providing exceptional service and ensuring shop operations run efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide top-notch customer service, both internally and externally, to continuously improve the customer experience;
  • Support daily operations by leading teams to ensure stakeholder objectives are met in a safe, effective, ethical, and positive manner;
  • Manage shop operations in alignment with The Craftsman Way (TCW);
  • Provide vacation coverage as required under the direction of the regional operations manager;
  • Utilize company dashboards to accurately identify and prioritize tasks;
  • Participate in daily production meetings;
  • Maintain professional relationships with all stakeholders;
  • Write estimates and schedules repairs as required;
  • Enter parts and sublet invoices using the Craftsman Management System;
  • Apply expert understanding and application of all insurance/fleet specific policies and procedures;
  • Support daily production, workflow, and quality control of the shop;
  • Work with assigned Operations team members and Shop Manager to follow operational goals, in alignment with organizational objectives;
  • Proactively reduce effort to increase touch time and reduce vehicle days in shop;
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and guidelines to promote consistent application within the Company;
  • Bring forward suggestions for training needs based on observations;
  • Bring forward suggestions to continuously improve processes;
  • Support company standards in SPARKLE, safety, and security;
  • Represent and promote the Craftsman Collision brand in a positive manner aligned with stated values in all dealings internal and external;
Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years of related experience in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment;
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field preferred; a combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered;
  • Working towards I-CAR Platinum certification an asset;
  • Strong verbal, written, and listening skills, combined with the ability to interact and gain the support of senior leadership and other decision-makers;
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills;
  • Demonstrated time management, problem-solving, critical thinking, and sound judgment skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with customer service-oriented attitude;
  • Proficient in Outlook and video conferencing platforms with the ability and willingness to learn new applications;
  • Demonstrated desire and aptitude for learning and development;
  • Interest in vehicles and the automotive industry;
  • Knowledge and proficiency in ADAS systems, vehicle calibrations, and emerging vehicle technologies an asset;
  • Must have a valid class 5 driver's license with a clean driver's abstract over the last 3 years;
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada with no restrictions;
