Job Title: Vegetable Farm Worker

Birch Farms Ltd. is seeking a reliable and physically fit Vegetable Farm Worker to join our team. As a key member of our farm crew, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to crop cultivation, harvesting, and farm maintenance.

Work Setting

The successful candidate will work in a rural area, surrounded by rolling hills and picturesque farmland. Our farm is a dynamic and fast-paced environment, requiring individuals who are able to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply fertilizers to crops to promote healthy growth and development
  • Clear fields of wood and stones to ensure optimal crop growth
  • Cut agricultural crops at the appropriate stage of maturity
  • Divide fresh harvested produce into marketable and non-marketable lots
  • Grade vegetables and fruits according to size, shape, colour, and volume to maximize market value
  • Plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops to ensure optimal growth and yield
  • Clean and maintain the work area to ensure a safe and healthy environment
  • Harvest crops at the appropriate stage of maturity
  • Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment to ensure efficient and safe operation
Requirements
  • Air Brake (Z) Endorsement
  • Pesticide Applicator's Licence
  • Valid driver's licence and own transportation
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Repetitive tasks and work under pressure
  • Handling heavy loads and physically demanding work
  • Hand-eye co-ordination and attention to detail
  • Combination of sitting, standing, and walking
  • Up to 45 kg (100 lbs) weight handling
