Overview

Your Role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role within our consulting services team, collaborating with a diverse group of professionals throughout the entire project lifecycle. Your expertise will be essential in devising and executing mechanical engineering strategies while mentoring junior engineers and designers. Your primary focus will be on open pit and underground mining projects, with opportunities to support other sectors such as oil and gas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee engineering work completed by yourself and engineers-in-training under your supervision.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to enhance the technical skills of your team, while promoting risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate project coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders, including consultants, contractors, and vendors.
  • Identify and implement innovative engineering solutions, contributing valuable insights for successful project execution.
  • Serve as a technical advisor on complex engineering challenges, guiding your team towards effective solutions.
  • Lead the development and organization of project specifications and documentation.
  • Review the work of other Mechanical Engineers and ensure proper integration with other engineering disciplines.
  • Assist in proposal development for new projects.
Qualifications

  • Registered Engineer with a recognized Canadian provincial Engineering Association.
  • In-depth understanding of the mining project lifecycle from conceptual studies to execution.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in various systems, including:
    • Hoisting
    • Ore flow and material handling
    • Ventilation
    • Piping Systems
    • Dewatering
    • Process Water
    • Backfill
    • Compressed Air
    • Infrastructure (e.g., garage, dry, refuge station, magazine)
  • Proficient in digital tools, including:
    • 3D model evaluations
    • 2D drawing and document assessments using Adobe Acrobat and Bluebeam
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • Effective communication and leadership through Microsoft Teams.
  • Able to manage multiple projects across various teams.
  • Strong presentation skills for engaging with clients and sub-consultants.
  • Proven mentoring capabilities for junior engineers and designers.
Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 15 years of professional experience, with at least 8 years in the mining sector.

The role typically involves working in an office environment with prolonged periods of computer use. Fieldwork may expose you to varying weather conditions.
