Dietitian - Nutrition & Food Services Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Dietitian to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a Dietitian, you will be responsible for providing competent, safe, and ethical professional practice to patients, families, and communities.
You will advise on diet and food and nutrition across all health sectors, providing leadership in team efforts to support the nutritional health of patients. This includes the prevention, detection, and treatment of malnutrition and medical nutrition therapy using the Nutrition Care Process.
You will participate in the Dietetic Practicum and Internship program, including preceptoring and mentoring Dietetic Students. As a member of the Nutrition and Food services team, you will contribute to client care through collaboration with healthcare team providers, sharing nutrition expertise, ensuring quality and continuity of care, and supporting a range of healthcare services.
We are looking for a Dietitian who is accountable for employing an evidence-informed approach to practice. You will have a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition from a recognized University and a Dietetic Internship Program. You will also have current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists and a minimum of one year of working experience as a Dietitian.

About YouWe are looking for a Dietitian who has:
- Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition from a recognized University
- Dietetic Internship Program
- Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists
- Minimum one year of working experience as a Dietitian
- Inpatient clinical nutrition experience
- Competency in dysphagia management, enteral and parenteral nutrition
- Experience counselling patients
- Current WHMIS
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize, problem solve, and work under pressure of time limitations
- Demonstrated participation in continuing education and upgrading of skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of the interprofessional healthcare team
- Competencies in other languages
This is a Permanent-Part time position, 20% FTE, 15 hours biweekly. Hours may include days, evenings, weekends & holidays.
Compensation and IncentivesThe hourly rate for this position is $43.43.
