Meridia Recruitment Solutions is representing a prominent law firm in downtown Ottawa that is in search of a seasoned Commercial Real Estate Attorney. This firm is known for its innovative and collaborative approach, serving a diverse clientele ranging from individuals to multinational corporations.

Key Responsibilities:


• The Commercial Real Estate Attorney will engage in various facets of both commercial and residential property transactions, including land acquisition, development, financing, leasing, structuring, and sales.

• Responsibilities include overseeing land purchases and sales, structuring financing and joint ventures, and managing developments that involve cost-sharing arrangements for owner groups, as well as handling volume sales of residential lots and raw land development.

• The role also encompasses land use planning, expropriation, municipal property tax assessments, and municipal finance, addressing both site-specific and broader development policy issues, along with related disputes.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 5 years of post-call experience as a lawyer in Ontario, with a focus on real estate, municipal, and planning law.

• A solid understanding of corporate law principles.

• Proven experience in drafting development agreements, including joint venture agreements, cost-sharing agreements, subdivision agreements, and site plan agreements.

• Experience representing landowners in matters before the Ontario Land Tribunal, Committee of Adjustments, and other related land-use planning issues and disputes.

• Demonstrated ability to navigate raw land through the development approval process to secure subdivision, site plan, or development approvals, including strata consents.
