About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team at City Veterinary Hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Animal Care and Handling: Provide exceptional care and handling of animals undergoing treatment and surgery, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Assistance to Veterinarians: Assist veterinarians before, during, and after surgery, providing support and expertise as needed.
  • Medication Administration: Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under the direction of a veterinarian, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Treatment Administration: Administer treatments as prescribed by a veterinarian, prioritizing patient care and comfort.
  • Research and Laboratory Assistance: Conduct and assist in laboratory research, contributing to the advancement of veterinary knowledge and care.
  • Nursing Care and Rehabilitation: Provide nursing care and rehabilitation therapy for animals, promoting their recovery and well-being.
  • Wound and Bandage Care: Provide wound and bandage care, ensuring proper healing and minimizing discomfort.
Requirements and Certifications
  • Registration and Certification: Registration by a provincial or territorial, or regional association as a Registered Animal Health Technologist or Registered Veterinary Technician.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Attention to Detail: Maintain a high level of attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in all aspects of animal care and treatment.
  • Repetitive Tasks: Perform repetitive tasks with ease, prioritizing efficiency and productivity.
  • Work Term and Hours: Work a permanent schedule, with 35 hours per week, providing a stable and predictable work environment.
  • Language: Communicate effectively in English, ensuring clear and concise communication with colleagues, veterinarians, and clients.
