The Director of Operations is tasked with overseeing a comprehensive range of municipal services, including but not limited to road maintenance, water management, drainage systems, and various equipment assets. This role involves managing a diverse team comprising operational leaders, engineers, administrative personnel, and unionized staff.
Reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director plays a pivotal role in supporting the leadership team and Council in executing strategic initiatives aimed at achieving operational objectives.

Corman Park is a vibrant community that spans over 800 square miles, offering opportunities for professional advancement while making a meaningful impact in the community. Our workforce consists of approximately 85 full-time, part-time, seasonal, casual, and contract employees dedicated to serving a local population of around 9,000 residents.
In this role, you will:
- Provide strategic leadership to the Operations department, ensuring the successful implementation of departmental objectives.
- Delegate responsibilities effectively and inspire team members to achieve desired outcomes.
- Develop long-term strategies and operational policies to prioritize and execute capital projects related to fleet management, construction, and infrastructure expansion.
- Oversee project management for the planning, design, and construction of municipal infrastructure.
- Review engineering plans and development proposals concerning infrastructure, transportation, utilities, and stormwater management.
- Manage servicing agreements and utility crossing agreements.
- Ensure effective oversight of road maintenance, water systems, pest control, and drainage systems in accordance with budgetary guidelines and policies.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders and other departments to ensure coordinated planning and delivery of projects and services.
- Establish practices to meet statutory requirements and maintain quality standards.
- Consult with external engineers and contractors as necessary.
- Lead the development and execution of an asset management plan for the department.
- Monitor departmental performance against strategic goals and budgetary constraints.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of ten (10) years of progressive managerial or supervisory experience in a related field, focusing on municipal infrastructure maintenance, operations, and project management.
- Engineering and administrative certifications are advantageous.
- In-depth knowledge of municipal management and public sector operations.
- Exceptional leadership qualities, including integrity, resilience, and adaptability.
- Advanced communication and interpersonal skills to achieve strategic objectives.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities, with a capacity for discretion and confidentiality.
- Proficiency in oral and written communication, along with excellent computer skills.
- Experience collaborating with senior management teams.
Position Type: Permanent Full-time
Work Hours: 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday)
