As a Character Modelling Team Supervisor at Ubisoft, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the characters that players will engage with and relate to. You will lead and mentor a skilled group of character modellers, guiding them in the transformation of concept art into vibrant characters, creatures, and animals that populate our gaming worlds.

Your expertise as a team leader is complemented by your exceptional communication skills and your ability to foster collaboration among team members. You possess a deep understanding of the character creation workflow, including the various technical and artistic challenges that may arise. Your leadership will empower your team to overcome obstacles, provide constructive feedback, and achieve their artistic goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with fellow art leads and the art director to refine and advance the creative vision for the game.
  • Inspire and guide character modellers as they create and refine their character art throughout the 3D production process.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings to delegate tasks, set priorities, and review progress.
  • Balance artistic vision with technical requirements, ensuring adherence to quality and performance benchmarks (such as poly count and memory usage).
  • Evaluate completed work to ensure alignment with the artistic direction and suitability for animation.
  • Offer mentorship and constructive feedback to cultivate a consistent and high-quality visual style.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Participate in talent acquisition efforts to expand and enhance your character modelling team.
Qualifications

What You Bring

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in modelling, texturing, or related fields (leadership experience is a plus).
  • Proficiency in 2D art tools (e.g., Photoshop) and 3D software (such as 3DS Max, Maya, Substance Painter, Marvelous Designer, and ZBrush).
  • A solid grasp of topology, materials, textures, proportions, anatomy, as well as animation and gaming constraints.
  • Outstanding mentorship, communication, organizational, time management, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Adaptability and a strong sense of resourcefulness.
  • A collaborative, creative, and empathetic approach to teamwork.
