Position: Diesel Mechanic Specialist at VIA Rail Canada Inc.

VIA Rail Canada Inc., the premier passenger rail service in Canada, is seeking skilled Diesel Mechanics to enhance our operations at the Vancouver Maintenance Center.

As a Diesel Mechanic Specialist, your primary duties will include executing preventive maintenance and conducting repairs on locomotives and rail vehicles.

Your technical skills will be vital in identifying mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic challenges on our impressive fleet and performing the necessary repairs.

Alongside routine inspections, adherence to VIA's preventive maintenance protocols for locomotives will be essential.

Employment Benefits:
  • Permanent full-time role with a guaranteed 40-hour work week
Compensation:
$ $/h
  • Shift differentials for evening and night shifts: $1.50 and $2.00 per hour, respectively
  • $1/H Red Seal premium
Comprehensive Benefits Package:
Includes dental, medical, pension plan, ride pass, and 5 personal days plus vacation
  • Provision of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as boots, glasses, helmet, vest, and gloves, along with necessary tools and uniforms
Qualifications:
  • Vocational diploma in heavy-duty mechanics, diesel mechanics, or automotive mechanics
  • Strong collaborative and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of air brake systems
  • Willingness to work day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts
  • Inter-Provincial certificate in mechanics (Red Seal) is advantageous
