About the Position

We are seeking a visionary and community-focused Executive Director to provide leadership and direction for the MAH. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing teams, fundraising, and developing strategic plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and General Management
    • Provide direction and oversee all operations for the Museum, including staff management, budgeting, and strategic planning.
    • Ensure that daily operations and programs are professionally and efficiently organized and administered.
    • Maintain and preserve the MAH's physical assets, creating a welcoming and accessible space for the community.
    • Properly administer contracts in compliance with relevant employment law.
    • Hire, train, manage, and evaluate Senior Level Staff.
    • Support an organizational culture focused on collaboration, innovation, equity, inclusion, and accountability.
  • Fundraising and Partnership Development
    • Maintain and grow the organization's financial health with a plan based on a Board-approved budget.
    • Implement a strategy to identify, engage, solicit, and steward new and legacy donors.
    • Develop fundraising activities that will add to the organization's fiscal health.
    • Develop and deepen innovative collaborations and partnerships.
  • Community Building, PR, and Marketing
    • Enhance the MAH's place in the community through events, exhibitions, and projects.
    • Collaborate with community partners to co-create relevant exhibitions and outreach activities.
    • Ensure the organization's marketing and communications plan reaches current and prospective supporters.
    • Advocate for the MAH, serving as our public face and media spokesperson.
    • Act as lead liaison with elected officials, nonprofits, sponsors, and local businesses.
  • Board Partnership and Support
    • Ensure perspectives of staff, board, and stakeholders are fully considered.
    • Coordinate efforts of regular and ad hoc committees; develop meeting agendas and retreats.
    • Support committees in achieving their goals; encourage Board members' involvement.
    • Assist the Board in identifying and recruiting new members.
    Experience and Qualifications
    • Preferred
      • At least 7 years of leadership experience, including managing teams of 15 or more employees.
      • Minimum of 5 years of experience in community engagement within the arts, cultural, or nonprofit sectors.
      • Proven track record of raising at least $1 million annually.
      • Demonstrated ability to manage an organizational budget of at least $2 million.
    • Required
      • At least 5 years of leadership experience, including managing a team of employees.
      • Experience in community engagement or partnership development.
      • Proven track record of fundraising through various initiatives.
      • Demonstrated ability to manage an organizational budget.
      • Experience working with diverse communities, with a commitment to diversity and equity.
      • Experience in developing and executing culturally relevant programs.
      • Strong public speaking and media communication skills.
      • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans.
      • Demonstrated experience in creating a collaborative non-profit work environment.
      Compensation and Benefits
      • Starting Pay Range: $100,000 - $150,000 with additional incentive available for significant development performance.
      • Paid Time Off: 20 days per year, 11 paid holidays, and 10 sick days per year.
      • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance: 99% coverage of employee medical, dental, and vision insurance.
      • Retirement: a 403(b) Deferred Income Retirement plan for employees.
