We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Geochemist to join our team at WSP Canada. As a key member of our Earth and Environment group, you will play a critical role in driving forward our ambitious plans to enhance our service offering in the province or territory.
Key Responsibilities- Technical Lead for Geochemistry Projects: You will be responsible for leading geochemistry projects, specifically in oil sands and mining environments, and ensuring that they are completed to the highest standards.
- Client Interactions and Business Development: You will have direct client interactions and will be involved in proposal writing and business development, helping to grow our business and expand our services.
- Geochemical Characterization Studies: You will conduct geochemical characterization studies, radiological assessments, and other environmental investigations, using your expertise to inform our clients' decisions.
- Data Interpretation and Conceptual Model Development: You will work on data interpretation and conceptual model development, using your knowledge of chemistry and geology to develop innovative solutions.
- Reporting and Presentations: You will write or oversee the preparation of reports and will prepare presentations, communicating complex technical information to clients and stakeholders.
- Mentorship: You will mentor junior staff, sharing your expertise and experience to help them develop their skills and knowledge.
- University Degree in Geochemistry: You will have a university degree in Geochemistry (preferably MSc or PhD) with a focus on geology, environmental science, geological engineering or related field.
- Applied Work Experience: You will have 5 to 10 years of applied work experience in a related field, with a strong understanding of chemistry and geology.
- Industry-Standard Modeling Software: Familiarity with industry-standard modeling software such as PHREEQC, Geochemist's Workbench and GoldSim is an asset.
- Data Manipulation: You will have strong data manipulation ability, including experience with data management tools (i.e. Excel, EQuIS, Access).
- Strong Written and Verbal Communications Skills: You will have strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to clients and stakeholders.
