About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team at the City of New York. As a key member of our IT & Telecom division, you will play a critical role in leading business transformation through technology innovation and enhancing our ability to fulfill our mission.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Expand Azure DevOps Adoption: Onboard all new and legacy applications, including on-premise solutions using VMware, Azure, AWS, and Salesforce.
  2. Implement End-to-End DevOps: Utilize Azure DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS, Azure, manifests, Helm Chart, and other tools to design and implement a comprehensive DevOps strategy.
  3. Design and Implement Source Code Repositories: Create and manage source code repositories using Azure DevOps, branching, and approval workflows, including peer reviews and pre-merge checks.
  4. Build and Manage CI/CD Infrastructure: Design, build, implement, and manage the City's CI/CD infrastructure using Azure DevOps.
  5. Develop and Maintain CI/CD Pipelines: Create and maintain standardized template repositories and CI/CD pipelines for automatic application build, release, and deployment.
  6. Containerize Applications: Partner with PMO and Application teams to containerize the City's application portfolio and manage better and secure the agency's application infrastructure.
  7. Integrate Database Environments: Work with DBAs to integrate Database environments into the DevOps process and settings.
  8. Automate Infrastructure Provisioning: Utilize infrastructure as code techniques to automate the provisioning and management of the City's application infrastructure using Terraform and Ansible.
  9. Document Solutions and Specifications: Document architected solutions, functional and design specifications, presentations, and other documents as needed.
  10. Special Projects and Initiatives: Handle special projects and initiatives as assigned.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  2. Four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to datacenter engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, or complex IT infrastructure engineering.
  3. Alternatively, a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to datacenter engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, or complex IT infrastructure engineering.
Preferred Skills

We are looking for candidates with expertise in:

  • AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, AKS, EKS, Terraform, Azure DevOps, Linux Administration.
