The Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the food safety initiatives at the facility. This position is accountable for the successful implementation of food safety protocols through comprehensive task evaluations, verification processes, and ongoing monitoring activities. The FSQA Supervisor will also spearhead collaborative efforts among various teams during audits and the formulation of corrective action strategies for any compliance discrepancies.
Daily Responsibilities:- Lead a team of FSQA Technicians, ensuring that all tasks are executed consistently and efficiently to align with business objectives.
- Manage and uphold Quality and Food Safety programs and standards.
- Assess staffing needs for Quality Assurance based on production requirements.
- Conduct training sessions, both individually and in groups, covering equipment operation, food safety protocols, and workplace safety.
- Engage in the development, revision, and execution of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Provide updates and maintenance for HACCP and Food Safety Quality Programs, acting as a liaison to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Prepare for external audits and coach management teams in audit processes.
- Support investigations and corrective actions in response to process deviations or customer feedback.
- Contribute to the environmental monitoring program for critical equipment and facility areas, ensuring data is accurately recorded.
- Analyze sanitation and environmental data to identify root causes of issues and provide feedback for improvement.
- Regularly audit compliance with food safety standards and implement corrective measures as necessary.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and training among all employees.
- Offer technical guidance to manufacturing operations regarding product quality and food safety practices.
- Plan and communicate effectively regarding Quality Assurance and Food Safety initiatives across various programs.
- Encourage a positive work environment through strong interpersonal skills and team collaboration.
- Collaborate with all functional areas to support the execution of Food Safety programs.
- Promote adherence to health and safety regulations, ensuring a secure workplace.
- Flexibility to assist across shifts and departments as needed.
- Post-secondary education, preferably a degree in Chemistry or Microbiology.
- A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in FSQA within a food manufacturing context.
- Knowledge of food chemistry, microbiology, allergen management, auditing standards, and HACCP principles.
- Proven ability to independently manage and develop a team.
- Experience in fostering partnerships across various departments to enhance operational efficiency.
- Familiarity with industry quality systems and inspection protocols.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a focus on detail and results.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
