Training Supervisor for Tamper Operations

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Supervises the qualification assessments for tamper operators.
  • Oversees mentors assigned to support the qualification process for tamper operators.
  • Organizes and conducts practical on-the-job training for tamper operators, including the review of operational guides and safety protocols.
  • Designs and implements classroom training programs for operators.
  • Provides direction and support to equipment operators across the designated territory.
  • Collaborates with the Technical Training team to coordinate additional training for tamper operators.
  • Arranges for vendor-provided operational and maintenance training.
  • Identifies and contributes to the development and execution of new training initiatives.
  • Ensures that training and qualification records meet the standards for operator qualification prior to position assignments.
  • Investigates equipment failures or damages as necessary and recommends corrective actions, including operator disqualification.
  • Leads the process for awarding positions to machine operators.
  • Ensures adherence to safety practices as recommended by equipment manufacturers and relevant regulations.
  • Administers the collective agreement within their areas of responsibility.
  • Participates in staffing processes, including onboarding new hires.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ten years of experience in production teams, with a minimum of five years in Group 1 or Special Group Machine Operation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering field operations and production teams.
  • Familiarity with tamping equipment operation and safety protocols.
  • CROR qualified.
  • Understanding of collective bargaining agreements related to operator qualification and disqualification.
  • Position requires significant travel.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
