The Legal Services Unit (LSU), part of Pembina's External Affairs Division, is seeking a Manager, Associate General Counsel due to advancements within our team.

The selected LSU manager will oversee a segment of the LSU team, which collectively delivers a diverse range of legal services, including commercial, corporate, regulatory, litigation, and securities support across our organization.

The Manager, Associate General Counsel will be responsible for leading the legal services provided to various departments, including Human Resources, Supply Chain, Land, Environment & Regulatory, Community and Indigenous Affairs, Government Relations, Communications, and Enterprise Risk, while also guiding litigation efforts.

This role requires serving as a trusted advisor and resource for the Vice President, General Counsel, and Pembina's Executive team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and legal counsel on all relevant matters, focusing on permitting, compliance, emergency response, and complex litigation.
  • Drive initiatives for knowledge management and legal process enhancement, supporting corporate productivity goals.
  • Effectively lead both internal and external legal professionals, offering guidance, training, and support to managers and supervisors.
  • Mentor and manage the performance of team members, facilitating their career development.
  • Oversee the onboarding, education, and training of direct reports, including goal setting and tracking.
  • Research and identify technical solutions that align with business needs.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of legal practice experience, holding a Juris Doctor (JD) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B).
  • Significant experience in AER, CER, and/or FERC regulatory and litigation management.
  • Preferred candidates will have experience leading an in-house legal team.
  • Ability to communicate legal advice clearly and practically.
  • Strong time management and multitasking skills.
