Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly qualified and experienced instructor to teach a survey of popular music developments in rock, jazz, pop, and related musical styles from the mid-20th century. The successful candidate will have a strong background in popular music and jazz studies, with a proven track record of teaching at the university level.

Responsibilities:

The instructor will be responsible for teaching a course on popular music, including lectures, seminars, and lab sessions. The duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article of the Collective Agreement, which includes scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration).

Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, the successful candidate must have a Doctorate in Popular Music or Jazz Studies, teaching experience in popular music at the university level, and demonstrated teaching competence in popular music.

What We Offer:

Brock University offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary of $7, per half course (195 hours nominally) and $14, per full course (390 hours nominally), effective September 1, 2024. Instructors who are employed in a 2-hour/week lecture, or the equivalent of a 2-hour/week lecture, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.
