- Estimate costs and materials for painting projects and ensure compliance with company standards.
- Recruit and hire workers and carry out related staffing actions to maintain a skilled and motivated team.
- Train or arrange for training to ensure team members have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
- Set up machines and equipment to ensure efficient and safe working conditions.
- Advise consumers on colours and choice of wall coverings to meet their needs and expectations.
- Ensure health and safety regulations are followed to maintain a safe working environment.
- Recommend personnel actions to ensure the team is working effectively and efficiently.
- Requisition or order materials, equipment and supplies to maintain a well-stocked inventory.
- Leading/instructing individuals to achieve project goals and objectives.
- Repair cracks and holes in walls and surfaces to ensure a smooth finish.
- Prepare, clean and sand surfaces to be painted to ensure a high-quality finish.
- Mix paint to desired colour and texture to meet customer requirements.
- Erect scaffolding and swing stages and attach rigging to ensure safe working conditions.
- Apply paint, wallpaper and other materials and finishes to interior and exterior surfaces to meet customer expectations.
- Measure, cut and apply wallpaper and other fabric to walls to ensure a high-quality finish.
- 3-4 years of experience in a supervisory role in the construction industry.
- Experience in painting and decorating with a focus on supervisory and leadership roles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with team members and customers.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical stamina to perform tasks that require lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
- Ability to distinguish between colours to ensure accurate colour matching.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs) to perform tasks that require heavy lifting.
