To date, we have allocated substantial resources towards numerous economic development and conservation projects, enhancing the well-being of First Nations and their ecosystems.

In light of our expanding focus on marine conservation, we are seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to collaborate with the CEO and the leadership team in advancing our mission.

The CFO will hold a pivotal role with comprehensive responsibilities, including:

  • Financial Oversight: Management of accounting and financial reporting.
  • Strategic Planning: Involvement in budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Treasury Management: Overseeing investment reporting.
  • Policy Development: Crafting and implementing financial policies.
  • Performance Monitoring: Evaluating financial performance and forecasting.
  • Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating financial risks.
  • Asset Management: Overseeing the organization's information technology and assets.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the CFO will regularly present findings and provide insights to the board's Investment, Finance, and Audit Committee.

This position is ideal for a seasoned CPA with expertise in investment management and non-profit accounting, committed to the advancement and protection of significant ecological regions.

Qualifications include:

  • A university degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, complemented by a professional accounting designation (CPA).
  • Extensive financial management experience in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment at a senior leadership level.
  • Thorough knowledge of Canadian accounting standards for not-for-profit organizations, including compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience within a charitable foundation or private funds, with a preference for familiarity with the investment management sector.
  • Proven expertise in overseeing and implementing financial functions, including accounting, financial planning, treasury, and risk management.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with CRM systems.
  • Strong understanding of risk management and governance best practices.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities or organizations is highly valued.
