Senior Market Rules Advisor

Are you a seasoned professional with a passion for electricity market governance? Do you have a knack for analyzing complex market rules and developing effective compliance strategies? We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Market Rules Advisor to join our team at the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO).

About the Role

The Senior Market Rules Advisor will play a critical role in reviewing and facilitating changes to market rules exemptions, working closely with internal business units and external stakeholders. This position will also act as a project leader on assigned initiatives, committees, and task forces, and will be responsible for preparing and presenting materials to facilitate discussion with various internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective compliance strategies to ensure market rules exemptions are aligned with IESO's goals and objectives.
  • Lead project teams to review and analyze market rules exemptions, identifying areas for improvement and developing recommendations for change.
  • Collaborate with internal business units and external stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and coordination on market rules exemptions.
  • Prepare and present materials to facilitate discussion with various internal and external stakeholders, including the IESO's Exemptions Panel.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior team members on market rules exemptions and compliance strategies.

Requirements

  • Academic training in business, law, engineering, or economics, with a strong understanding of the electricity industry and market rules.
  • Proven experience in market governance, compliance, and policy analysis, with a strong track record of developing and implementing effective compliance strategies.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
