Job Title: Quality Control Lab Technician

Aromatics + Flavors Inc. is a leading provider of high-quality flavor and fragrance ingredients. We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Control Lab Technician to join our team.

Job Summary

The Quality Control Lab Technician will be responsible for ensuring the quality of our products by conducting laboratory tests and inspections. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct laboratory tests and inspections to ensure the quality of our products.
  2. Assist laboratory technicians in project creation and completion, sample formulation, and packaging.
  3. Interact with customers to ensure optimal satisfaction of products.
  4. Perform routine testing and approval of all raw materials, semi-finished, and finished products.
  5. Packages prepared samples for shipment and coordinates with various shipping companies to schedule shipment pickup.
  6. Ensures customers are made aware shipment is on route. Generates/verifies COA's as necessary.
  7. Maintains electronic and paper records by entering formulas, customers, and projects.
  8. Manufactures customer orders.
  9. Monitors and stocks library, ensure raw materials, flavors, and fragrances, Maintains lab cleanliness and correctly stores tools/equipment.
  10. Responds to email inquiries from clients, potential customers, and employees.
  11. Attends meetings as required.
  12. Monitors manufacturing schedule to identify any missing materials that will be needed for retention purposes.
  13. Maintains cleanliness of the lab by washing all lab glassware, e.g. stir bars, beakers, jars, etc.
  14. Receives all raw materials from suppliers and ensures the correct item, quantity, serial number, bar code, and has proper corresponding documentation, weekly.
  15. Orders all lab supplies, e.g. pipettes, stir bars, vials, gloves, etc.
  16. Responsible for calibrating all lab equipment, e.g. Density Meter, Thermometers, and Refractometer, monthly.
  17. Assists in ensuring all applicable HACCP documentation is completed.
  18. Responsible for ordering shipping supplies for project desk, e.g. boxes, bubble wrap, packing peanuts, etc.
  19. Conducts an Exterior Good Manufacturing Practices walkthrough of the building, monthly.
  20. Provides general back up to Administration department including taking calls, sending documents, and photocopying.
  21. Attends and participates in weekly meetings, assists with special projects as needed.
  22. Maintains an efficient, organized file and record management system both for electronic and paper correspondence and documents.
Requirements
  • Post-Secondary education (College Diploma or University Degree) in Chemistry related background.
  • Experience working in a lab-related setting is preferred.
  • Experience in implementing and utilizing measurement systems analysis, statistical process control, process capability, and other quality techniques and certifications including HACCP is an asset.
  • Experience using Apple-based computer programs and Microsoft programs such as Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language in writing and verbally to give and receive information.
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude, and well organized to plan and organize assigned duties.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing program needs.
  • Proficiency in the use of Apple computer software such as Filemaker.
  • Proficiency in other languages is an asset.
  • Physical Effort: Lifting (Approximately 25 lbs) and bending may be required during shipment collection.
  • Eye-hand coordination during sample formulation and quality control testing.
  • Mental Effort: High attention to detail at all times.
  • Concentration and attention to detail are required for such tasks as quality control testing, sample formulation, and packaging of completed products.
  • Multi-tasking between different priorities.
