About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Policy and Advocacy to join our team at Canadian Partnership for Women and Children. As a key member of our leadership and management team, you will play a critical role in shaping our organization's policy and advocacy agenda.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in international development and humanitarian assistance, with a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience. You will be responsible for managing and maintaining relationships with partners, developing and implementing policy and advocacy strategies, and providing leadership on organizational management and growth.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing policy and advocacy strategies to advance our organization's goals and objectives
  • Managing and maintaining relationships with partners, including government departments, civil society organizations, and international networks
  • Providing leadership on organizational management and growth, including strategic planning, staff recruitment and management, and financial oversight
  • Championing an organizational culture that advances anti-racism, equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice (AEDIJ), and reducing power abuse and inequalities

We are looking for a candidate who is functionally bilingual in English and French, with excellent analysis, research, and writing skills, and experience in monitoring and managing programs and budgets. Key Qualifications
  • Minimum of 8 years relevant work experience in international development and humanitarian assistance
  • Post-graduate degree(s) in relevant field(s), or equivalent experience with sound knowledge of theory, policy, and practice regarding international development and humanitarian assistance
  • Good knowledge of Canada's policy-making process, particularly as it relates to international cooperation and foreign policy
  • Significant experience working in advocacy, parliamentary engagement, working with government departments, and communications for policy influence
  • Successful experience raising funds and developing strategic partnerships to advance policy and advocacy efforts
  • Familiarity with the Canadian civil society community, including knowledge of international networks and civil-society partnership relations
  • Reputation for effective, creative, and caring leadership, initiative-taking, and collaboration in multidisciplinary settings, and across organizations
  • Demonstrated experience managing others and growing a diverse team, centring AEDIJ
  • Strong analysis, research, and writing skills, with good computer skills, including data analysis
