Position Overview

Our Service team, consisting of over 500 technicians across the United States and Canada, is a key differentiator for our company. As a Field Service Technician, you will work directly at customer locations, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing battery, engine-powered, and robotic Tennant products. Your role will involve diagnosing equipment issues and determining the necessary steps to restore functionality. By delivering exceptional communication and craftsmanship, our Service Technicians become invaluable assets to Tennant Company.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct preventative maintenance and resolve intricate issues by diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic systems, and combustion engine problems on both Tennant and competitor models.
- Manage your territory by organizing your daily schedule, including reaching out to customers to arrange service activities. Maintain open communication regarding service expectations, timelines, billing, and future needs. Document all service activities and business reports, ensuring the cleanliness and organization of all Tennant Company property, including your vehicle, tools, parts, and inventory. Adhere to all safety protocols and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with internal teams such as sales, customer service, technical support, and fellow technicians to enhance your success.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license in accordance with Tennant Company driving policy.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in troubleshooting and repairing combustion engines (LP, Diesel, or Gas), mechanical and electrical systems, and using hand and power tools, diagnostic devices, and personal computers with MS Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training in automotive, diesel, or electrical fields.
- Previous experience with mobile equipment (e.g., forklifts, heavy machinery) and direct customer interaction.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds, with most items weighing between 2 and 20 pounds. Occasionally, items may weigh up to 90 pounds, requiring assistance for heavier loads.
- Frequent physical activities including sitting, standing, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, kneeling, or squatting.
- Regular driving to and from customer sites, including extended driving periods exceeding 2 hours daily.
