Horizon North is seeking a skilled Baker/Breakfast Cook to join our team in a world-class camp facility. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a regular shift of 20 days on and 10 days off, with 11-hour workdays. Transportation is provided to site from a pickup point in Edmonton.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking breakfast and baked goods to the highest standards of Horizon North. This position is safety-sensitive and requires drug, alcohol, and fit-to-work testing as a condition of employment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and bake goods from scratch
  • Restock pastry shelves and maintain a sufficient and fresh supply of baked goods
  • Create and follow menus to ensure quality of baked goods and desserts
  • Wrap and date all baked goods in accordance with production schedule
  • Ensure consistent quality standard in overall food preparation as per clients' requirements, including consideration to special dietary constraints
  • Ensure proper equipment operation, safety, and sanitation in the kitchen
  • Comply with food hygiene regulations in accordance with the Food Safety Act
  • Supervise night shift employees; provide mentorship and training

Requirements
  • Interprovincial Red Seal Certification or some culinary education leading to Red Seal
  • Required: FoodSafe Level I is minimum. SafeCheck advanced food safety certification or HACCP certification is an asset
  • Minimum 3 years' cooking and baking experience in a similar or hotel/institutional environment
  • Proven experience preparing baked goods for large numbers of guests
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Successful candidates must obtain a mark of 80% or higher on the mandatory WHMIS test (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System)
