The Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Administrator - Infrastructure to join our Regional Informatics & Technology Services (ITS) team. As an integral member of our team, you will play a key role in ensuring the stability, security, and performance of our enterprise infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Administer and maintain large-scale systems, backup administration, and storage systems virtualization environments.
- Develop, document, and maintain infrastructure configurations, monitor system performance, and troubleshoot complex issues.
- Collaborate with vendors, such as Cisco, VMware, and EMC, to optimize system configurations and ensure compliance with industry best practices.
- Provide ongoing trend analysis, root cause analysis, and future resource planning to ensure the effective use of infrastructure resources.
- Install and upgrade hardware and software to grow, maintain, and upgrade the infrastructure based on identified needs.
- Respond to system incidents, problems, and escalations, and collaborate with other staff and vendor support resources to resolve issues.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external standards and security requirements.
- Develop and implement monitoring strategies for system resource usage, performance, and security.
- Research, recommend, implement, administer, and monitor system security as related to SAN Administration and backup systems.
- 3-year college diploma or university degree in Computer Sciences or related program, or 5 years of healthcare IT experience in an enterprise environment.
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification, Microsoft certification, or ITIL certification an asset.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as a VMware systems administrator in an enterprise environment.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in maintaining large-scale systems and backup administration, storage system environments.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work independently or as a team member.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to compile and deliver education and content that is audience-appropriate.
- Ability to absorb and retain complex technical information quickly.
- Excellent customer service skills, with a strong commitment to the team and a positive team spirit.
- Experience with system architecture from conception to deployment.
- Strong knowledge of the relationship between technology and business requirements.
- Experience with system security best practices to ensure data loss prevention for endpoints and servers.
- Knowledge of privacy legislation and understanding and adhering to policies relating to confidential information.
- Experience with business analysis and requirements documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent data analysis skills, able to identify trends, gaps, and information that can drive positive change.
