The role requires a strategic approach to planning, executing, controlling, and finalizing projects that typically span multiple years and involve significant financial commitments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the execution of medium-risk decommissioning projects, ensuring adherence to established timelines, budgetary constraints, and quality standards.
  • Engaging in project planning, financial forecasting, and resource management through collaboration with internal stakeholders to define project scope and deliverables.
  • Forming and leading project teams, including Project Control Coordinators, to accurately estimate project costs based on detailed work package breakdowns.
  • Directing the creation of statements of work and procurement documents to solicit proposals from contractors.
  • Managing the evaluation and awarding of contracts, as well as the ongoing administration of these contracts.
  • Ensuring the achievement of project goals by setting performance targets and regularly monitoring progress against quality, scope, schedule, and cost metrics.
  • Defining and managing project scope while identifying and mitigating risks to maintain project integrity.
  • Assisting in the development and management of project budgets and timelines, including approval of any changes to project scope.
  • Supporting project performance reporting to various stakeholders.
  • Participating in the on-site execution of projects, providing support to the Job Supervisor as needed.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science from a recognized institution, or a Project Management Professional certification.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years in the nuclear sector, particularly in waste management or decommissioning.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Membership in a recognized engineering professional organization is advantageous.
  • Comprehensive understanding of project lifecycle phases, including definition, design, and implementation.
  • Proficient in applying project management principles across various domains including scope, cost, and risk management.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks relevant to project delivery in the nuclear industry.
  • Ability to lead project planning and execution while effectively managing resources.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for maintaining collaborative relationships with team members and external partners.
  • Proficient in project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes and contract management.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Security Clearance:

Eligibility for Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance is required, necessitating a minimum of three years of verifiable history in Canada or other specified countries.
