Are you ready to take on a leadership role? The Bilingual Project Leader (French/English) is accountable for overseeing decommissioning initiatives within the Canadian Nuclear Laboratories framework. This position entails the management of complex projects at the Gentilly-1 site, ensuring that all objectives related to schedule, budget, quality, and safety are met to the satisfaction of all stakeholders involved. The role requires a strategic approach to planning, executing, controlling, and finalizing projects that typically span multiple years and involve significant financial commitments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the execution of medium-risk decommissioning projects, ensuring adherence to established timelines, budgetary constraints, and quality standards.
- Engaging in project planning, financial forecasting, and resource management through collaboration with internal stakeholders to define project scope and deliverables.
- Forming and leading project teams, including Project Control Coordinators, to accurately estimate project costs based on detailed work package breakdowns.
- Directing the creation of statements of work and procurement documents to solicit proposals from contractors.
- Managing the evaluation and awarding of contracts, as well as the ongoing administration of these contracts.
- Ensuring the achievement of project goals by setting performance targets and regularly monitoring progress against quality, scope, schedule, and cost metrics.
- Defining and managing project scope while identifying and mitigating risks to maintain project integrity.
- Assisting in the development and management of project budgets and timelines, including approval of any changes to project scope.
- Supporting project performance reporting to various stakeholders.
- Participating in the on-site execution of projects, providing support to the Job Supervisor as needed.
- Performing additional duties as assigned by management.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science from a recognized institution, or a Project Management Professional certification.
- Experience: Minimum of five years in the nuclear sector, particularly in waste management or decommissioning.
- Membership in a recognized engineering professional organization is advantageous.
- Comprehensive understanding of project lifecycle phases, including definition, design, and implementation.
- Proficient in applying project management principles across various domains including scope, cost, and risk management.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks relevant to project delivery in the nuclear industry.
- Ability to lead project planning and execution while effectively managing resources.
- Strong interpersonal skills for maintaining collaborative relationships with team members and external partners.
- Proficient in project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Knowledge of procurement processes and contract management.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Eligibility for Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance is required, necessitating a minimum of three years of verifiable history in Canada or other specified countries.
