Job Title: Housekeeping Aide

Job Summary:

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Housekeeping Aide to join our team at Riverview Gardens Long-Term Care Home. As a Housekeeping Aide, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our residents, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the home in a clean and orderly condition, adhering to health and safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks, including laundry, dishwashing, and trash removal.
  • Assist with the portering of residents to the dining room for meals.
  • Restock supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Report any maintenance or repair issues to the maintenance team.
  • Communicate with residents, families, and staff to ensure their needs are met.
  • Participate in ongoing in-service training to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Secondary School Diploma or equivalent education.
  • Ability to work with hospital-grade chemicals and cleaning equipment.
  • Strong customer service skills and a pleasant demeanor.
  • Knowledge of infection prevention and control procedures.
  • Ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods.

Working Conditions:

This is a permanent casual position, working a variety of shifts, including weekdays, afternoons, midnights, and weekends. You must be able to accept short-notice call-in hours and work independently with minimal supervision.

Benefits:

This position receives 15% in lieu of benefits and 4% vacation pay.
