Job OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled Vessel Lead Hand to join our team at our Shepard Shop in Calgary, AB. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team in the fabrication and assembly of pressure vessels, ensuring that work is completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and supervise a team of fabricators and welders to ensure adherence to specifications, safety protocols, and schedules.
- Identify skill gaps and provide training to team members to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Assign tasks, monitor progress, and optimize workflow to maintain efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Manage resources, ensuring efficient use and timely availability of materials and equipment.
- Assist in troubleshooting issues, addressing deviations from specifications, and collaborating with Quality Control to maintain standards.
- Journeyperson Certificate in welding
- 5+ years of experience in B Pressure welding
- Experience in building exchangers and pressure vessels
- Ability to read and interpret all red-line markups and blueprints
- Working knowledge of the Alberta OHS Act, Regulation, and Code as it pertains to our industry.
- Strong knowledge of assembly/fabrication/production processes, techniques, and quality control methods.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
