Unit Overview:
The 3B unit is a 20-bed facility specializing in Cardiology and Telemetry, providing care for a diverse range of acute cardiac patients, including those experiencing STEMI, NSTEMI, and CHF, as well as individuals undergoing pre and post-cardiac procedures.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or meet eligibility criteria for registration in the Temporary Class or General Class with the CNO.
- A minimum of 2 years of acute medical/surgical experience is essential.
- Completion of the Coronary Care 1 course is required or a commitment to complete it within the next six months.
- Experience in Cardiology/Telemetry is preferred.
- Canadian Critical Care Certification is an asset.
- Current BCLS certification is mandatory; ACLS certification is preferred.
- A physical assessment course is required.
- Preference will be given to candidates with two years of recent telemetry and/or general medicine/surgical experience and successful completion of the Coronary Care II course.
- Experience in providing educational support to patients and families is essential.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work within an interdisciplinary team are required.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate patient and family-centered care and establish therapeutic relationships.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development is necessary.
- Familiarity with Meditech and computer skills is preferred.
- A satisfactory attendance and performance record is required.
- Availability for day and night shifts, including two weekends per month, is necessary.
