Role Overview
The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering and coordinating comprehensive nursing care services, which include patient assessments, education for patients and families, and promoting health initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care by executing the care plan and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure family-centered care.
- Develop tailored care plans by reviewing patient and family histories and engaging with the healthcare team to refine these plans.
- Maintain accurate patient records by documenting health information, nursing observations, and care evaluations to ensure completeness.
- Educate patients and their families by providing clear information, demonstrating procedures, and assessing the effectiveness of teaching methods.
- Contribute to the training and ongoing education of nursing staff and students through mentorship and guidance.
- Identify personal learning needs and engage in professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Serve as a clinical resource for patients, families, and healthcare professionals by articulating the rationale behind nursing decisions.
- Actively participate in healthcare team meetings and patient care conferences to share insights and contribute to discussions.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with current registration as a Registered Nurse.
- At least one year of relevant experience in the clinical area or a combination of education and experience.

- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to connect with children and their families.
- Proficiency in CPR techniques.
- Capability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Commitment to understanding and implementing legislative obligations and provincial commitments related to Indigenous Peoples.
- Dedication to fostering reconciliation and addressing systemic inequities in healthcare.
- Knowledge of the socio-political context affecting Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with anti-racism initiatives.
