Job Title: Physical Therapist - Learning Supports Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Physical Therapist to join our team at Rocky View Schools. As a Physical Therapist - Learning Supports Specialist, you will provide physical therapy services to students with complex needs in inclusive learning environments.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct physical therapy services within the context of typical classroom activities
  • Provide physiotherapy services as per the recommendation of the student(s)' medical professionals where appropriate in an educational setting
  • Monitor student progress by providing ongoing observation/assessment of development especially in the areas of seating, positioning, and ambulation skills within a functional context
  • Administer, score, and interpret standardized and non-standardized/functional pediatric therapy assessments
  • Provide in-service professional development for school staff regarding issues included in the realm of physical therapy transfer techniques, body mechanics, and safety for the student(s) and staff
  • Develop goals, strategies, and activities that integrate seamlessly into lessons and other school activities and are connected to the student(s)' Individual Program Plan
  • Collaborate with both the school and the divisional learning support teams, as both teams work together to support and facilitate the student(s)' program plan
  • Build capacity with all caregivers such as teachers, educational assistants, and parents
Requirements:
  • Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy
  • Expertise in identifying, diagnosing and planning therapeutic intervention for students with neurological disorders, developmental disorders, and other conditions affecting mobility
  • Registration, in good standing, with Physiotherapy Alberta - College and Association including continuing professional development as per guidelines
  • Registered authorizer with Alberta Health Services Aids to Daily Living Program
