The City of White Rock is a picturesque coastal community with a population of 22,000 residents, celebrated for its pleasant climate, extensive beach, historic pier, charming dining options, and strong community spirit.

The Engineering & Municipal Operations Department, specifically the Water Treatment Division, is in search of a dedicated individual who demonstrates a strong work ethic and prioritizes safety to become a vital member of their team. The Water Operator II plays a crucial role within the Water Treatment team, engaging in a variety of field and technical tasks associated with the secure and effective upkeep and operation of the water treatment plant systems and infrastructure. This ensures the reliable provision of a safe drinking water supply for public consumption and firefighting needs. Responsibilities include water quality monitoring, sampling, laboratory analysis, process oversight, evaluation and control, residuals management, and equipment isolations and shutdowns. The position also involves assisting with SCADA operations to track system performance data, maintaining operational records, identifying trends, and responding to emergency alerts and public inquiries regarding water services.

Key Qualifications:


•Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by relevant technical courses and some experience in water treatment systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


•EOCP Water Treatment Level II certification.


•EOCP Water Distribution Level I certification.


•In-depth knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, tools, and equipment utilized in the maintenance, repair, and installation of water meters, valves, and related apparatus.


•Substantial understanding of safety protocols and hazards pertinent to the role.


•Familiarity with the water treatment and distribution systems.


•Proficient knowledge of SCADA networks and the ability to utilize SCADA for monitoring system performance data.


•Capability to troubleshoot routine operational issues and provide relevant information and support.


•Ability to execute a range of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance, repair, and installation of water meters, valves, and associated fittings and services.


•Competence to perform all servicing, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and related duties with minimal oversight.


•Skill in assisting with the inspection, maintenance, and operation of water treatment systems.


•Proficiency in preparing and maintaining records related to the work.


•Ability to establish and maintain effective and positive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.


•Familiarity with software applications relevant to the role.


•Ability to work collaboratively and amicably in both team-oriented and independent settings, with a strong emphasis on safety.


•Possession and maintenance of a valid Class 5 BC driver's license.
