Operating Room Assistant

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Operating Room Aide to join our team at Fraser Health. As an Operating Room Aide, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms by providing exceptional support to our surgical teams.
Key Responsibilities- Clean, decontaminate, assemble, sterilize, and distribute surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment to the operating rooms.
- Disassemble, wash, clean, and reassemble anaesthetic equipment, replacing worn parts as needed.
- Pick and transport surgical supplies and instruments to the operating rooms, as per established procedures.
- Prepare dirty instruments for transport and maintain the cleanliness of sterilizers and sterile core areas.
- Distribute instruments and equipment to the operating rooms, in accordance with established procedures.
- Issue and deliver supplies, as requested, and maintain departmental stock levels.
- Participate in the Departmental Quality Assurance Program by cleaning, checking, and testing sterilizers and other related equipment.
- Transport specimens to the laboratory and pick up blood/blood products, as assigned.
- Assist with room set-up for cases by moving out dirty tables and equipment and moving in tables and equipment for the next case.
- Restock carts for theatres and perform clerical duties, such as recording workload statistics and answering the telephone.
- Grade 12, successful completion of Sterile Supply Processing Program, plus one year's recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Knowledge of surgical and medical terminology, mathematical aptitude, and ability to communicate and deal effectively with others.
- Ability to operate related equipment and physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
