Lakeridge Health is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team. As a Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities- Utilize the nursing process to provide safe, competent care to assigned patients, using a systematic problem-solving approach to assess the condition and identify the needs of the patient.
- Observe and enforce aseptic technique and infection control principles required in the prevention of nosocomial and communicable diseases.
- Develop a plan of care for patients in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and perform other related duties as assigned.
- Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (within good standing and must provide annual registration).
- Current BCLS.
- Coronary Care I course (Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation) required OR must enrol within 3 months of commencing in position and successfully complete within 12 months of commencing in position (reimbursement for the cost of the course will be provided upon providing proof of completion).
- Recent related clinical experience in general medicine and surgical care nursing.
- Recent experience in an acute medical/surgical/cardiology unit preferred.
- Proven cardiac rhythm and patient assessment skills (tested).
- Critical Care Certificate course or equivalent experience preferred.
- Demonstrated wound management and pain management skills.
- Knowledgeable regarding the application of health and safety and infection control principles as it applies to the role of RN.
- Sound knowledge and application of nursing skills as listed in the C.N.O. "Standards of Nursing Practice".
- Proven organizational, critical thinking, problem-solving and teaching skills.
- Able to assume a charge/resource role.
- Sound judgment, good observation and patient assessment skills; flexibility/adaptability to work assignments, tact and empathy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to perform appropriately in emergency situations.
- Physically capable to lift, turn, transfer patients manually and with mechanical aids.
- Previous Cardiac Monitoring course and/or Critical Care Certificate course or equivalent experience preferred.
- Must have a satisfactory performance record.

- Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular inservice education in this area.
- Proven good attendance record with capabilities of maintaining this same standard.
- Port Perry qualifies for the Government of Canada's Student Loan Forgiveness program for Nurses. Nurses employed at the Lakeridge Health Port Perry site may be eligible for this program.
- The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and the Ontario Nurses Association (RN Bargaining Unit Local 051).
- Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
