Position Overview

We are in search of a Field Appraiser (Automotive) to assist in our operations within the Greater Toronto Area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform field evaluations in the GTA to assess mechanical or physical damages to various vehicles, including cars, light trucks, motorcycles, and trailers, through direct interactions with insured individuals, claimants, and service providers.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with repair shop owners and managers throughout the appraisal process. Negotiate and convey best practices for repairs, including timelines and parts replacement prior to finalizing the appraisal in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Stay updated on insurance products, appraisal methodologies, and investigative techniques. Identify opportunities for process enhancements and propose adjustments to policies or procedures to ensure high-quality service and competitiveness.
  • Build and sustain productive relationships with repair facilities and other service providers. Participate in the evaluation and oversight of vendor performance to meet professional and corporate standards.
  • Conduct re-inspections as needed to verify the satisfactory completion of repairs in line with Ontario Appraisal Guidelines.
  • Ensure effective communication with claims departments. Provide guidance to fellow appraisers and adjusters when necessary.
  • Gather repair cost agreements or quotes from vendors regarding parts, labor rates, etc. When applicable, prepare evaluations for total loss and facilitate their resolution.
  • Within defined authority limits, negotiate settlements with vendors regarding labor rates, repair durations, and rental days based on established formulas.

Qualifications:

  • College Diploma or University Degree, or equivalent trade certification, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of customer service experience, preferably in a dealership or collision center environment.
  • 3-5 years of experience in collision estimating, with Audatex experience preferred.
  • Autobody License is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Proficiency in preparing auto repair estimates using Audatex Estimating Software.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, with experience in interviewing, coaching, and interacting with insured individuals. Strong written communication skills for drafting claims reports.
