Job Title: Accessibility Specialist

At IBI Group, we are seeking an experienced Accessibility Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our design team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our projects are accessible and inclusive for all users.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and knowledgeable Accessibility Specialist with a minimum of 5 years of experience in developing and implementing universal design strategies. You will be responsible for providing expert advice and assistance on accessibility matters, reviewing architectural drawings and details to ensure compliance with accessibility standards, and collaborating with our multi-disciplinary team to support the design and construction of our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement universal design strategies for complex projects
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on accessibility requirements
  • Review architectural drawings and details to ensure compliance with accessibility standards
  • Collaborate with our multi-disciplinary team to support the design and construction of our projects
  • Serve as a Technical Advisor, offering expert advice and assistance on accessibility matters
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience developing and implementing universal design strategies
  • Detailed knowledge of accessibility regulations, Human Rights codes, Ontario Building Code (OBC), Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act - Design of Public Spaces (AODA-DOPS), Canadian Standards Association/Accessibility Standards Canada standards, Americans with Disabilities Act Design Standards, Accessible Canada Act, International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and other relevant building codes and standards
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe InDesign/Illustrator, and Bluebeam/Adobe Acrobat markups
  • Familiarity with MicroStation
  • IAAP Certified Professional in Accessible Built Environments (Level 2 preferred) and Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification are assets
