About the Role:

The Senior Tax Accountant will play a key role in supporting the company's tax function, assisting with the preparation and filing of Canadian and US Sales and Excise tax returns. This individual will participate in tax research, audits, and other department projects, contributing to the company's growth and success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and file U.S. and Canadian Sales and Excise tax returns
  • Prepare and file US property tax returns
  • Prepare tax working papers and reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
  • Provide tax and audit support to the company's warehouses in the US and Canada
  • Prepare and submit tax payment requests
  • Conduct tax research as required, prepare appropriate documentation
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with warehouse and corporate personnel
  • Proactively seek opportunities for process improvement, data management opportunities and other efficiencies
  • Participate in Tax Department projects, as assigned
  • Potential for travel – within Canada and US

Requirements:

  • Solid organizational skills
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical and research skills
  • Strong work ethic and proven ability to meet tight deadlines on multiple competing projects
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
