Job Title: Machinist (Heavy Machine Operator)

We are seeking a skilled Machinist (Heavy Machine Operator) to join our production team at our facility in Cambridge, Ontario. This role plays a critical part in ensuring we meet our customers' quality, cost, and delivery expectations.

The Opportunity

To machine large, heavy components for the manufacture of nuclear steam generators.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate CNC and manual machine tools.
  • Program CNC machines.
  • Consistently maintain production of quality machine parts.
  • Read and interpret Work Orders, Drawings, Shop Instruction Sheets, and supporting documents.
  • Select appropriate tools and apply knowledge and experience of feeds and speeds.
  • Work in a safe manner, demonstrating good workmanship and practices.
  • Operate Horizontal Boring Mills (prior experience on this equipment is essential).
  • Machine large components (example: 3 to 5 meters in diameter).
Requirements
  • Proven commitment to workplace safety.
  • Commitment to quality and the ability to work as a positive, effective team member, willing to go the extra mile to ensure we meet our customer expectations.
  • A Certificate of Apprenticeship and a Certificate of Qualification are mandatory.
  • Knowledge and use of precision measuring equipment.
  • Ability to read and write CNC programming.
  • Ability to perform routine mathematical calculations (trigonometry, algebra).
  • Proficiency and demonstrated ability on horizontal and vertical boring machines, supported by a minimum of one year experience.
  • Availability to work all shifts: day shift (4x10, Monday-Thursday, 6am – 4pm); afternoon shift (4x10, Monday-Thursday, 4pm – 2am) or weekend day shift (3X11 [paid for 40 hrs], Friday-Sunday, 6am – 5pm).
