Job Summary:

LAPRAIRIE Group of Companies, a leading provider of specialized transportation services, is seeking a skilled Picker Truck Operator to join its team in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Operate a 45-ton Swing Cab Picker Truck to transport heavy equipment and commodities as required.
  • Ensure correct equipment and rigging are chosen for the job, using guidance from supervisors when necessary.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and rigging, including certifications for the rigging.
  • Adhere to daily schedules set out by dispatch, including shift work on customer sites and 24-hour shifts.
  • Perform and complete tasks for safety management, including field-level risk assessments and behavior-based observation cards.
  • Assist in the creation of standard operating procedures and job safety analysis.
  • Complete required courses and training programs.
  • Accurately complete all necessary paperwork, including timesheet submission and field tickets.
  • Maintain a clean and organized truck.

Requirements:

  • Journeyman Picker Truck Ticket or Mobile Crane Operator Certificate.
  • Valid Commercial Drivers License.
  • Acceptable Commercial Drivers Abstract (5 years).
  • Relevant work experience in the industry.
  • Availability to work rotational shifts, including days and nights.
  • Competent and able to run 45-ton swing cab Picker Truck.
  • Picker Truck, Winch Truck, and Bed Truck experience is considered an asset.
  • Experienced in using OHS hand signals for spotting mobile equipment.
  • Able to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
  • Solid communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to complete daily paperwork as required on a tablet and submit to dispatch.
